Hooping a single cap for custom embroidery with no minimum order

Custom embroidery no minimum means exactly what it says: order one stitched cap, one hoodie or one polo, and it gets the same digitizing, design approval and final inspection as a 200-piece uniform order. Send a logo, a name or a sketch, design it live in our 3D Custom Designer or request a bulk quote for 100+ pieces, and approve it before a single stitch is sewn. The only setup charge is a one-time $35 digitizing fee per logo or artwork design (a name or initials in one thread color is $10 per item instead); reorders, and that same design on any other garment, never pay it again. To see every garment and placement we stitch, explore embroidery options on our main embroidery page.

Is There a Minimum? Single Pieces vs. Full Runs

There isn't one. A single piece is a real order, not a sample request, and it runs through the same steps as a large one: your art is digitized, you approve a mockup on your exact garment and color, and the piece is stitched, trimmed, pressed and checked before it leaves.

What changes with quantity is the math, not the process. Setting up an embroidery job takes the same work whether the machine sews one cap or fifty: the design is digitized, the thread colors are loaded and the hoop is set for your placement. On a full run, that setup is shared. On a single piece, it isn't, and that's the honest reason one item costs more per piece than a dozen.

Worth knowing when you compare shops: a "no minimum" headline sometimes sits above prices calculated for 24 or 50 pieces. Ask what one piece costs, setup included, before you order. Our setup fee is published, and it's identical for one piece or one hundred.

How to Order Custom Embroidery Online, From Art Upload to Proof

Ordering online takes five steps:

  1. Pick the garment. Choose the style, color and size. We stitch on the blanks we stock, which lets us match the backing, needle and thread to a fabric we know.
  2. Send your art. An SVG or PDF file is best, and a high-resolution PNG or JPG is accepted. AI and EPS files can be sent with a bulk quote. For a name, just send the text.
  3. Choose placement and size. A left-chest logo usually runs 3 to 4 inches wide. A structured cap front fits about 4 inches wide by 2.25 inches tall, and a beanie cuff takes about 2 inches of height.
  4. Review your mockup. Design it live in our 3D Custom Designer, or request a bulk quote for 100+ pieces and get a free mockup from our team. Either way, you approve the design before anything is produced. The bulk mockup shows the size in inches, the placement and the thread colors, and you can request as many changes as you need.
  5. Approve, and we stitch. Your design is digitized, sewn and checked, then shipped or set aside for pickup.

If your art isn't ready, our design and digitizing help rebuilds rough logos, screenshots and hand sketches into clean, stitch-ready files. Keep lettering at least 1/4 inch tall and lines about 1 millimeter thick so small details stay readable in thread.

Per-Piece Pricing at Low Quantities

A one-piece order is built from the same parts as any other:

  • The garment. Blank prices are listed on each product page, and the blank is often the biggest part of the total.
  • Stitch time. This follows stitch count. A name might take 1,000 to 3,000 stitches; a typical left-chest logo runs 5,000 to 10,000.
  • Digitizing. A one-time $35 fee per logo or artwork design. Once it's paid, the stitch file is downloadable from your account. A name or initials in one thread color is $10 per item instead, or the one-time $35 when the same lettering goes on four or more pieces.
  • Extra placements. A sleeve hit or a personalized name on a hat side adds its own stitch time.
  • Shipping, unless you pick up at our Orlando-area warehouse.

On a single item, the whole digitizing fee sits on that one piece. Order twelve with the same design and each piece carries a twelfth of it. Order more of that design next month, or put it on a cap instead of a polo, and you don't pay it again. For worked examples by garment and quantity, read our guide to per-piece embroidery pricing. Working to a deadline? Rush orders are available for a fee quoted with your order; tell us your in-hand date and we'll confirm it before you approve.

Products That Suit Low-Quantity Embroidery

Some items are ideal as one-offs; others shine in a bigger run.

  • Caps. The most popular single-piece order. A structured front panel gives the cleanest result, and bold lettering can be raised with 3D puff embroidery. Browse single embroidered hats in trucker, dad and snapback styles.
  • Polos and button-ups. A left-chest logo, or a personalized name on the right chest, is quick to set up and looks sharp. See one-off embroidered shirts for polos, work shirts and heavier tees.
  • Hoodies, crewnecks and knit sweaters. Heavier fleece, around 10 oz and up, holds a dense logo with less puckering than a light blend.
  • Jackets and bags. Great as gifts or a manager's piece, though thick padding and zippers limit where a design can go.
  • Patches. If one design needs to move between a backpack, a jacket and a cap, order small-batch embroidered patches (PVC and leather are available too, with minimums by type), then sew, iron or hook them on.

Personalized Gifts and Small Orders

Most single-piece orders are gifts, and that's where embroidery earns its keep. A name in thread has texture, catches the light and lasts as long as the garment. Popular one-offs include:

  • A dad hat with the grandkids' names stitched on the side
  • A crewneck with a wedding date on the sleeve
  • A hoodie with a dog's name and a small paw print
  • A monogrammed tote for a maid of honor
  • An ugly Christmas sweater with the family name for the holiday party

Block letters stay readable down to about 1/4 inch tall; script looks best at 1/2 inch or more. For fonts, monogram layouts and keepsake ideas, see our page on personalized one-off gifts.

Small-Business Starter Runs: Testing a Branded Look

No minimum is a low-risk way to test a branded uniform before you commit the budget. Order a single polo and check the fabric, the logo size and the thread colors in daylight, on a person, before you outfit the whole crew. When you place the full order, the design is already digitized, so no setup fee applies again and every piece matches the sample, including caps or jackets you add later.

The same approach works for a food truck trying an apron, a startup choosing between hoodie weights, or a contractor deciding between a left-chest logo and a full-back design. Add personalized names under the logo later, one new hire at a time; each embroidered name is $10.

When Ordering More Saves You Money

One piece is always fine, but a few habits bring the per-piece cost down:

  • Group the order. Five people who want the same branded cap should order together, so the hooping and thread setup happen once.
  • Reuse one design. Setup fees are one-time per design: reorders, and the same design on other products, never pay them again; only a design change needs new setup. That goes for both the $35 digitizing fee and the screen-print setup on 100+ piece orders.
  • Pick one hero placement. A chest logo on its own takes far less stitch time than a chest logo plus a sleeve and a back design.
  • Simplify fills. Outlines and open lettering use far fewer stitches than solid fills of the same size.
  • Know when to print. For a large, colorful design on a tee, DTF has no setup fee and can beat embroidery on a one-off.

Nationwide Shipping or Local Orlando Service

Every order can ship anywhere in the US, and because mockups are approved online, you don't need to be nearby. Frequently Asked Questions

Is there really no minimum order for embroidery?

Yes. You can order a single embroidered piece on any garment we stitch, and it goes through the same digitizing, mockup approval and quality check as a large run. There's no quantity threshold to unlock it. Bigger orders simply lower the per-piece cost, because the one-time setup is shared across more items.

Why do single embroidered items cost more per piece?

Because setup doesn't shrink with quantity. Digitizing the design, loading thread colors and setting the hoop take the same work for one piece as for fifty, so a single item carries all of it. The $35 digitizing fee is the only fixed charge; garment and stitch time scale with the piece itself.

Can I order embroidery online and ship anywhere in the US?

Yes. You choose the garment, upload your art and preview it live in our 3D Custom Designer, so the whole order happens remotely, and we'll ship anywhere in the US. Orlando-area customers can also pick up finished orders at our warehouse; we confirm a pickup time when the order is ready.

How long does a one-piece embroidery order take?

It depends mostly on how quickly you approve your mockup and whether the garment is in stock. A simple name moves faster than a detailed logo that needs careful digitizing. Rush orders are available for a fee quoted with your order; tell us your in-hand date and we'll confirm it before you approve.

Do digitizing fees apply to small orders?

Yes. A new design carries the one-time $35 digitizing fee whether you order one piece or a hundred. It's charged once per design, not per item, and the digitized file is then downloadable from your account. Setup fees are one-time per design: reorders, and the same design on other products, never pay them again; only a design change needs new setup.
