How We Keep Hoodie Prices Low
A low hoodie price comes from two places: what we charge and what your design asks for. On our side, the rules are simple.
- Setup fees are published, not hidden. Screen printing, for orders of 100+ pieces, has a one-time setup fee per color, quoted with your order. Embroidery has a one-time $35 digitizing fee per design. DTF has no setup fee at all.
- Your embroidery file is yours. Once the $35 digitizing fee is paid, you can download the stitch file from your account, and reorders of the same design skip it entirely, just like screen-print setup.
- No minimum. You buy the number you need, not a 24- or 48-piece floor that leaves extras in a closet.
- Live previews. Preview your design in our 3D Custom Designer, or get a free mockup on 100+ pieces, so there are no costly surprises after printing.
On your side, the biggest savings come from the decoration method, the number of colors, the number of placements and the blank you choose. Each is covered below. Every product page shows its live price, and for the full math behind every line on a quote, read our full hoodie cost breakdown.
Price Breaks for Bulk Hoodie Orders
Bulk custom hoodies get cheaper per piece for one main reason: one-time setup is shared across more garments. Production also runs more efficiently when a press or embroidery machine runs the same design over and over instead of switching jobs.
Here's how the one-time setup divides across an order. These figures are the setup share per hoodie only, not hoodie prices. The hoodie and the decoration are priced on top, and they ease with volume too.
| Order size | 2-color screen print (100+ pieces only) | Embroidery digitizing ($35) | DTF |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 hoodie | Not offered under 100 (DTF instead) | $35.00 | No setup |
| 12 hoodies | Not offered under 100 (DTF instead) | about $2.92 | No setup |
| 48 hoodies | Not offered under 100 (DTF instead) | about $0.73 | No setup |
| 100 hoodies | Setup quoted, shared by 100 | $0.35 | No setup |
That's why screen printing usually becomes the better value once a one- or two-color design runs to a few dozen pieces (we screen print orders of 100+), while DTF wins on small orders and full-color art. For more on ink colors, screens and placements, see how screen print pricing works.
Wholesale vs. decorated bulk orders
"Wholesale" usually means buying blank hoodies by the case and having them decorated somewhere else. That can look cheaper on paper, but you take on case minimums, leftover sizes and a second shipment. A decorated bulk order puts the blank, decoration, proof and shipping on one quote, in exactly the sizes you need. We decorate the blanks we supply, so hoodies bought elsewhere can't be sent in for decorating. Wholesale custom hoodies for a brand or a shop work the same way: one proof, one production run, mixed sizes. For reseller pricing, ask us.
No-Minimum Orders: Buying Just One or Two
Custom hoodies with no minimum make sense for a birthday gift, a sample before a big order or a two-person business that only needs a pair. The trick is choosing the method that suits a tiny run.
- DTF is the go-to for one or two pieces. There's no setup fee, and it handles full-color art and photos.
- Embroidery works for a single hoodie too. You pay the $35 digitizing fee once, and reorders of the same design skip it.
- Screen printing rarely makes sense for one piece, because the per-color setup lands on a single garment, so we screen print only orders of 100+.
A smart move for any group order is to buy one sample first. Check the fit, the fabric and the decoration, then order the full run with confidence.
Budget-Friendly Blanks That Still Feel Good
The blank is often the biggest single part of a hoodie's price, so it pays to know what you're giving up and what you're not.
- Midweight 50/50 fleece (about 7.5 to 9 oz). This is the value sweet spot. A cotton-poly blend resists shrinking, holds its shape, takes screen prints and DTF well, and is warm enough for a Florida winter.
- Heavyweight cotton-rich fleece (10 oz and up). Softer, structured and longer-lasting, but it costs more per blank. Worth it for retail merch and gifts, rarely needed for a one-day event.
- Pullovers vs. zip-ups. A pullover usually costs less than a full-zip version of the same blank, because the zipper adds material and sewing.
- Sizes and colors. Extended sizes (2XL and up) often cost more because they use more fabric. Core colors such as black, navy, white and heather gray tend to be the most affordable.
Cheap shouldn't mean scratchy or see-through. A good budget hoodie has a brushed fleece interior, a lined hood and ribbed cuffs that spring back after washing. Every product page lists the blend, weight and size range, so you can compare before you order.
Decoration Choices That Save Money
Small design decisions move the price more than most people expect.
| Choice | Lower-cost option | Why it saves |
|---|---|---|
| Screen-print colors | 1 or 2 ink colors | Each color adds a screen to set up and a press pass |
| Placements | One location (chest or back) | Every added location is decorated separately |
| Embroidery size | Left-chest logo about 3.5 to 4 in. wide | Fewer stitches mean less machine time |
| Full-color art, small run | DTF | No setup fee and no per-color cost |
| Garment color | Let the hoodie color form part of the design | One less ink color to set up |
A few more ways to stretch a budget: - Simplify the logo. Drop gradients and fine outlines for screen printing; they add colors and rarely show from a distance. - Keep one design across all sizes. Setup is charged once per design, so youth sizes through 3XL share a single setup; a second design for part of the order adds new setup. - Consider tees for part of the group. If the budget is very tight, a T-shirt costs less than a hoodie. See our budget t-shirt printing for a lower-cost option with the same artwork.
Branded Hoodies for Events, Fundraisers and Schools
Budget orders are usually group orders. Schools, booster clubs, churches, 5K races, family reunions and start-ups all need a lot of hoodies without a lot of money, and branded hoodies are one of the few pieces of merch people keep wearing.
Fundraisers that don't leave you with extra stock
Because there's no minimum, you can take pre-orders first and order only what's sold. Collect each buyer's size (and name, if you're adding personalized text) on one spreadsheet, then send it with your quote request. Selling at a markup over your cost per piece is how most groups raise money, and ordering exact quantities protects that margin.
Schools, teams and clubs
Spirit wear and team gear follow the same playbook: one or two ink colors, a front design, and optional personalized names on the back. Larger groups ordering every season should look at our team bulk orders for numbers, mascots and youth sizes.
Start-ups and brand merch
A small business can order one branded sample, check the stitching, then order staff hoodies in exactly the sizes it needs. If you're selling hoodies under your own label, the same decorated bulk process applies.
How to Get an Accurate Bulk Quote
The more we know, the closer the quote is to the final invoice. Send: 1. Quantity, split by size (youth and adult) 2. The hoodie style and color, or your budget so we can suggest a blank 3. Your artwork, ideally an SVG or PDF file; high-resolution PNG or JPG is accepted, and AI and EPS files can be sent with a bulk quote 4. Each placement and its approximate size 5. Any personalized names or numbers 6. Your in-hand date, and whether you need rush production (the rush fee is quoted with your order)
Every order can ship anywhere in the US, or Orlando-metro customers can pick up at our Orlando-area warehouse.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the cheapest way to get hoodies made?
For a group, the lowest per-piece cost usually comes from a one-color screen print on a midweight 50/50 hoodie in a core color, with one placement, ordered in quantity (100+ pieces). For one or two pieces, DTF is cheaper because there's no setup fee. Simple designs, fewer colors and fewer placements lower the price with any method.
How many hoodies do I need for a bulk discount?
There's no fixed cutoff. Per-piece cost falls steadily as quantity rises, mainly because one-time setup is shared across more hoodies. A $35 embroidery digitizing fee adds about $2.92 of setup per hoodie at 12 pieces and $0.73 at 48. Request quotes at two quantities to see the difference for your design.
Is there a minimum order?
No. You can order a single hoodie with DTF or embroidery. For one or two pieces, DTF is usually the most economical choice, since it has no setup fee. Embroidery works for one piece too, with the one-time $35 digitizing fee paid once per design.
Are cheap custom hoodies still good quality?
They can be, if the blank is right. A midweight 50/50 fleece with a brushed interior and good ribbing holds up well for events, staff and school wear. You give up some softness, weight and drape compared with heavyweight cotton-rich fleece. For retail merch or long-term gifts, look at our premium hoodie upgrades.
Do you sell wholesale to resellers?
We decorate hoodies in bulk for brands, shops and anyone selling under their own label, priced by quantity on your quote. For a wholesale or reseller pricing program, ask us. Send your sizes, artwork and placements and we'll quote the run. We decorate the blanks we supply rather than hoodies bought elsewhere, and we don't sell ready-to-press heat transfers.
Can I mix sizes and colors in one bulk order?
Yes. Mixing sizes is standard, and you can mix hoodie colors too. On dark garments, your preview and quote show exactly how the design prints, and a white base layer never adds to screen-print setup, so you see each version before production.
Your brand. Beautifully made.
