Custom Beanies & Winter Hats

Custom beanies are the easiest cold-weather merch to get right: one size fits most, everyone wears them, and a stitched logo on the cuff looks sharp for years. Choose cuffed, slouch or pom-pom knits, add your branded logo or a personalized name, and order one beanie or a few hundred. Need a cap instead? Browse all custom caps and hats.

Knit Styles: Cuffed, Slouch, Pom-Pom and Stocking Caps

On custom beanie hats, the knit style decides where your design goes and how the hat sits.

  • Cuffed beanies: the classic. A roughly 12-inch knit folds up into a cuff, giving a flat, double-thick band that's ideal for an embroidered logo or a sewn-on patch.
  • Short or uncuffed beanies: a closer, shorter fit with no fold. The logo sits directly on the knit, so simpler designs work best.
  • Slouch beanies: extra length that drapes at the back for a relaxed, streetwear look.
  • Pom-pom beanies: a cuffed knit topped with a yarn pom. They're the favorite for school spirit, ski trips and holiday gifts.
  • Stocking caps and watch caps: the long, tapered old-school knit, and the short, shallow fisherman style that sits above the ears.

Most beanies are one size fits most, which makes team and staff orders simple: no size chart, no leftovers in the wrong size.

Stitching vs. Printing on Knit Winter Hats

Embroidery is the right call for almost every beanie. Knit fabric stretches and has a ribbed, uneven surface, and thread moves with it instead of cracking. We use a stabilizer behind the knit and a topping on the surface so stitches sit on top of the ribs instead of sinking in. Browse our embroidered cap styles to see how the same logo carries from a beanie to a ball cap.

Patches are the other strong option. An embroidered, PVC or leather patch sewn to the cuff gives a clean, premium look and handles detail that thread can't hit at small sizes.

Printing is possible on smooth knits but has trade-offs. When the knit stretches, a print can crack or distort, and heavy ribbing breaks up fine lines. For full-color art on a beanie, a patch is usually the more durable choice.

Logo Size and Placement

  • Cuff front: the standard spot. Plan on about 2 inches tall at most and 4 to 5 inches wide, so the design stays on the flat part of the fold.
  • Side or back of the cuff: a small icon, a website or a name.
  • Uncuffed knit: keep the design simple and slightly smaller, since the knit flexes more.

Text needs to be at least about a quarter inch tall to stay readable in thread on a knit.

Branded Winter Hats for Teams, Schools and Ski Trips

Even in Central Florida, a branded beanie earns its place. Travel teams head north for tournaments, schools sell spirit wear for the few cold weeks we get, ski clubs and church groups plan winter trips, and cold-storage, freezer and early-morning crews wear knit hats year-round. Companies with clients up north send custom winter hats as a thank-you that gets worn all season.

For schools and youth programs, our beanies and caps for kids come in smaller sizes so the logo fits a youth head. Want the whole cold-weather kit to match? Pair your beanies with matching custom sweatshirts or cold-weather custom hoodies using the same logo file and thread colors.

Wool, Acrylic and Knit Fabrics Explained

Fabric Feel and warmth Best for
100% acrylic Soft, light, colorfast, hypoallergenic Most branded beanies, bright brand colors, crisp embroidery
Wool and wool blends Warmest, naturally breathable, can feel scratchy unless merino Premium gifts, outdoor and ski use
Cotton Breathable, lighter warmth Mild climates like Florida winters
Acrylic-poly blends Heathered colors, good stretch recovery Lifestyle merch and retail
Fleece- or sherpa-lined knits Extra warmth and wind blocking Outdoor crews, early shifts, cold storage

Knit gauge matters for decoration as much as fabric. A fine, tight knit holds small lettering and clean edges. A chunky or cable knit looks cozy but swallows detail, so pair it with a patch or a bold, simple logo.

Holiday Gifts: Personalized Beanies

A personalized beanie is one of the easiest gifts to get right. One size fits most, so you don't need anyone's measurements. Popular ideas include a first name or initials on the cuff, a family-name set for a holiday photo, matching pom-poms for a ski trip, or a company logo with each employee's name on the side.

For more gift and logo concepts, see our winter hat design ideas. Plan holiday orders early. Proofs, name lists and color choices take the most time in December, so locking in the design first keeps everything on track.

Low-Minimum and Bulk Beanie Orders

There's no minimum, so one personalized beanie is as easy to order as a full team run. Setup is simple and one-time:

  • Embroidery: $35 digitizing per design. After that, you can download your digitized file from your account and reuse it on caps, hoodies and shirts.
  • DTF printing: no setup fee.
  • Screen printing (for shirt and sweatshirt orders of 100+ pieces, through our team): setup quoted with your order.

The price per beanie depends on quantity, the knit you choose, stitch count, thread colors, number of placements and whether you add a patch. For a deeper look at how those factors stack up, read our guide to custom headwear pricing.

How to Order Your Beanies

  1. Pick a style and knit color from the collection above.
  2. Upload your logo (SVG or PDF works best; AI and EPS files upload in our 3D Custom Designer too) or type your text.
  3. Choose embroidery or a patch and the placement.
  4. Design it live in our 3D Custom Designer, or request a bulk quote for 100+ pieces, and approve your proof.
  5. We decorate your beanies and ship anywhere in the US, or you pick them up at our Orlando-area warehouse if you're in the Orlando metro.

Caring for an Embroidered Beanie

Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent, or use a gentle cycle inside a mesh laundry bag. Reshape and lay flat to dry. Skip the dryer, high heat and bleach, which can shrink the knit, fuzz the yarn and fade the thread. Spot-clean leather patches instead of soaking them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you embroider a logo on a beanie?

Yes. Embroidery is the best decoration for most beanies. We stitch your logo on the cuff front, side or back, using a stabilizer and topping so the thread sits cleanly on the knit. Logos up to about 2 inches tall fit a standard cuff, and the $35 digitizing fee is one-time per design.

Do you offer beanies with pom-poms?

Yes. Pom-pom beanies are a popular choice for schools, ski trips and holiday gifts. They're decorated the same way as other cuffed knits, with embroidery or a sewn-on patch on the cuff. We carry them in a range of colors, so pick the one from the collection above that best matches your brand.

Is there a minimum order for custom beanies?

No. You can order a single beanie with your logo or name. Larger orders lower the cost per beanie because setup is spread across more pieces, and setup fees, embroidery digitizing and screen-print setup alike, are paid only once per design, so reorders skip them.

Can you print on a knit beanie?

It's possible on smooth knits, but embroidery and patches hold up better. Knit stretches and has a ribbed texture, so prints can crack or distort over time. For full-color artwork, a patch sewn to the cuff usually gives a cleaner, longer-lasting result.

Are beanies a good corporate gift?

Yes. A branded beanie is useful, fits nearly everyone and gets worn for months, so your logo stays visible all season. Add each employee's or client's name on the side for a personalized touch, or pair it with a matching hoodie for a complete cold-weather gift.

Your brand. Beautifully made.
