Row of multi-head embroidery machines stitching a bulk order of custom hats

Bulk custom hats put your logo on a whole crew, a trade-show crowd or a store shelf, and the cost per hat drops as the order grows. We decorate structured caps, truckers, dad hats, beanies and more with embroidery, patches or full-color prints, from a couple dozen hats to more than a thousand. Every design is previewed before production, in our 3D Custom Designer or on a free mockup for 100+ pieces. Not sure which style yet? Browse hat styles first, then come back for a quote.

How Volume Pricing Works From 24 to 1,000+ Hats

Big runs get cheaper per hat for three plain reasons:

  1. The digitizing fee doesn't multiply. You pay it once for the design, whether the order is 24 caps or 2,400.
  2. The machines keep running. Once a design is threaded and the cap hoops are set, every extra cap rides on that setup, with fewer stops to rethread or adjust.
  3. Uniform blanks buy better. Two hundred of one cap style in two colors costs less to source than a scattered mix of styles and shades.

Here's how the one-time $35 embroidery digitizing fee works out at different quantities:

Order size Digitizing share per hat Notes
1 hat The full $35 Great for a sample before a big run
24 hats About a dollar and a half A typical crew or team order
144 hats About 24 cents A small promo run or retail drop
1,000 hats Under 4 cents Setup becomes almost invisible

Reorders of the same design skip the fee entirely, and you can download the digitized file from your account. DTF printing has no setup fee at all. If you're also ordering screen-printed shirts with your hats, screen printing is available on orders of 100+ pieces through our team, with setup quoted with the order.

Beyond setup, the price per hat depends on the blank, quantity, stitch count or print size, the number of placements and any patch work. Live prices for each style are on the product pages, and larger runs get a volume quote with the mockup. Ordering fewer than 100 hats? We have no minimum, so browse hats without minimums for smaller orders and samples.

Bulk Hats for Resellers and Retail Brands

Boutiques, golf pro shops, breweries, surf shops, clothing labels and bands buy wholesale custom hats to sell at a markup. Retail work needs a few things a giveaway doesn't:

  • Consistency across reorders. Because your digitized file is saved and downloadable, the logo stitches the same way in March as it did in October.
  • Colorways that sell through. Two or three proven colors usually outsell a rainbow. Start narrow, then add a seasonal color once you see what moves.
  • A blank worth the price tag. Buyers judge a retail hat by the crown shape, the sweatband and the closure, so choose a premium blank for anything with a price sticker.
  • A sample first. Order one finished hat to check the fit, thread colors and logo size before committing to hundreds.

Ask us about wholesale or reseller pricing when you request your quote, and tell us whether the hats are for resale so we can suggest blanks that fit your margin.

Trade-Show Giveaways and Branded Promotional Hats

A branded hat outlasts almost any other giveaway, because people wear it long after the event. A few tips for custom promotional hats that actually get worn:

  • Choose one-size adjustable styles. Snapbacks, strapbacks and truckers fit most adults, so there's no size guessing at the booth.
  • Keep the logo simple and centered. A clean front logo reads from across an aisle; save the website for the back.
  • Pick crowd-friendly colors. Black, navy, khaki and gray suit almost everyone. For outdoor Florida events, lighter colors and mesh backs stay cooler.
  • Plan quantity by traffic, not attendance. Estimate how many visitors you'll actually talk to, then keep a reserve for clients and staff.

Hats are often part of a bigger kit. If you're planning tees, polos or hoodies for the same event, see our branded merch beyond hats to keep one logo and one color palette across everything.

Styles That Work Best at Volume

Some styles are simply easier to order by the hundred:

  • Structured six-panel caps: the default branded uniform and promo hat, with a firm front that holds embroidery cleanly.
  • Truckers: breathable, retro and great for patches. Ask about wholesale trucker hats for bars, breweries and event crews.
  • Dad hats: soft, unisex and one-size, which makes them easy for merch drops.
  • Performance caps: lightweight polyester for outdoor crews, golf events and summer races.
  • Beanies: seasonal volume for holiday gifts, ski trips and winter merch.
  • Richardson blanks: a common choice for large runs and reorders because the fit and color range stay familiar to your crew.

One-size adjustable styles keep big orders simple. Fitted and stretch-fit caps look sharp but need a size breakdown. For help choosing, see our guide to styles that work for large orders.

Decorating Hundreds of Hats: Thread, Patch or Print

Method One-time setup What scales the cost Best at volume for
Flat or 3D puff embroidery $35 digitizing per design Stitch count and placements Staff uniforms, retail, teams
Embroidered, PVC or leather patch Quoted with your proof Patch size, material and quantity Truckers, outdoor brands, premium merch
DTF print None Print size and placements Full-color logos, promos, photo art
Sublimation Not offered (we print with DTF) Print size White polyester fronts, vivid color

Embroidery is the most popular choice for custom embroidered hats in bulk because it's durable and looks premium on every hat in the run. Keep the stitch count reasonable with a clean, two- or three-color logo, and the cost per hat stays in check. For a look at how we prepare files and run large stitching jobs, see our high-volume embroidery production page.

Patches add a premium, retail look and can be made in volume, then attached to each hat. Prints are the economical way to put many colors on a big promo order, since added colors don't add stitches.

You can also add stitched placements: a small logo on the side, or a personalized name on the back of every team cap.

Production Timelines for Big Runs

Timing depends on a few things:

  • Quantity and stitch count: more hats and denser designs take more machine time.
  • Placements: each added side or back decoration adds a pass per hat.
  • Colorways: spreading one design across several hat and thread colors adds changeovers.
  • Proof approval: production starts when you approve your mockup, so quick feedback keeps things moving.

Tell us your in-hand date when you request a quote, and we'll plan the order around it. Rush orders are available, and the rush fee is quoted with your order.

Getting a Bulk Hat Quote

Send these details with your quote request and we'll come back with a mockup and volume pricing:

  1. Hat style and colors, or the look you want if you'd like a recommendation.
  2. Quantity per color, plus sizes if you chose fitted or stretch-fit styles.
  3. Your logo. SVG or PDF files are best; high-resolution PNG and JPG files are accepted, and AI and EPS files upload in our 3D Custom Designer too.
  4. Decoration and placements: embroidery, patch or print, on the front, side or back.
  5. Personalized details, such as names or numbers, as a simple list.
  6. Your in-hand date and whether you need rush.
  7. Delivery: every order can ship anywhere in the US, or Orlando-metro customers can pick up at our Orlando-area warehouse.

Every design is previewed before anything is produced. You can design it live in our 3D Custom Designer, or request a bulk quote for 100+ pieces for a free mockup and as many changes as you need before you approve.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many hats count as a bulk order?

Our bulk quotes start at 100 hats, and there's no minimum for smaller orders. The price per hat keeps improving as quantity grows because setup is spread across more pieces. Runs of a few hundred to a thousand or more get a volume quote with the mockup.

Do you offer wholesale pricing for resellers?

Ask us. Shops, brands and bands buying hats to resell can ask about wholesale or reseller pricing on larger orders. Tell us the hats are for resale when you request a quote, and we'll suggest blanks and decoration that fit your retail price. Your digitized file is saved, so reorders stay consistent.

How long does a bulk hat order take?

It depends on quantity, stitch count, the number of placements and how quickly you approve your mockup. Share your in-hand date with your quote request so we can plan the run. Rush orders are available for tight deadlines, and the rush fee is quoted with your order.

Can I mix hat colors and sizes in one bulk order?

Yes. Mixing hat colors under one design is common, and we adjust thread colors so the logo stands out on each one. Most styles are one-size adjustable; for fitted or stretch-fit styles, send a quantity for each size. Personalized names or numbers can vary hat by hat.

Are promotional hats cheaper in bulk?

Yes. Bulk custom hats cost less per piece because one-time setup is spread across the whole order and long runs are more efficient to produce. The $35 embroidery digitizing fee is paid once per design, and DTF printing has no setup fee. Live prices are on each product page.
