A landscaping crew is a moving billboard. Neighbors notice the truck first, then the people, and matching shirts tell a homeowner who belongs on the property and who to call next season. This collection is the outdoor-crew corner of our work apparel and uniforms, chosen for lawn care, landscaping, tree, irrigation and other crews who spend the whole day outside.

Shirts Built for Heat, Sun and Sweat

Comfort decides whether a crew is still wearing the shirt at noon. Three fabric families cover most outdoor work:

  • Heavyweight cotton (about 6 oz): tough and familiar and takes a print well, but it soaks up sweat and dries slowly. Best for cooler months and crews who are hard on clothes.
  • Poly-cotton blends: lighter, less prone to shrinking and quicker to dry than cotton, and they hold color through more washes. The safe all-season pick.
  • 100% polyester performance: wicks sweat away from the skin and dries fastest. The best summer choice, as long as shirts are washed promptly so they don't hold odor.

Tri-blends feel soft but are lighter-duty, so save them for office staff and events. Our guide to durable fabric choices compares weights and blends in more detail.

Moisture-wicking performance tees

For mowing and planting in July, a light-colored performance tee is the most comfortable thing a crew can wear. The fabric pulls sweat to the surface, where it evaporates, so the shirt doesn't cling. DTF print bonds well to polyester and blends with no setup fee, and an embroidered chest logo works on heavier performance polos.

UPF long sleeves for all-day sun

Long sleeves keep sun off the arms without reapplying sunscreen at every break, and in Florida-style heat many crews find a thin, loose polyester long sleeve more comfortable than bare arms in direct sun. Look for styles whose maker states a UPF rating for that garment, and check it on the product before you order; hooded versions cover the neck too. Long sleeves also give you room for a website or phone number down the sleeve. For fishing-style and hooded options, see our UPF sun shirts.

Picking Colors for a Landscaping Crew

Shirt color is a trade-off between heat, dirt and visibility:

  • Light colors (white, ash, sand, light gray) reflect sun and stay cooler, but grass stains and soil show fast.
  • Mid-tones (heather gray, khaki, sage, light blue) are the sweet spot: cooler than dark colors and more forgiving than white.
  • Dark colors (navy, charcoal, forest green, black) hide dirt best but absorb heat; keep them for cooler months, hoodies and caps.
  • Bright colors (safety green, orange, yellow) are easy to spot, but a bright shirt alone isn't hi-vis apparel (see below).

Pick one or two garment colors and stick with them, so the crew reads as one company from the street. Your logo needs contrast on every shirt color you choose. With embroidery, a different thread color is a new design and a new $35, so many companies pick shirt colors that all work with one thread color. Printed logos have no such limit: DTF has no setup fee, and the white underbase on dark shirts is included.

Logo Placement That Advertises on Every Job

Landscaping shirts with a logo do two jobs: they identify the crew and they sell the next job.

Left chest logo, phone number and website on the back

The standard layout is a logo on the left chest, usually about 3 to 4 inches wide, with the company name and phone number or website large across the back. The back is what neighbors see while your crew is bent over a bed or walking behind a mower, so make it readable from the street:

  • Use a bold, plain font; script and thin lettering disappear at a distance.
  • Keep it short: company name, one service line and a phone number or website.
  • After the name, give the phone number the biggest type.
  • Choose strong contrast, such as dark ink on a light shirt or white on a dark one.

Each item uses one decoration method. A printed tee can carry the chest logo and the back print together, while an embroidered polo keeps every placement in thread, so most companies print crew tees and embroider the polos worn by estimators and owners. Our logo work shirts apply the same thinking to trade and service crews.

Method Best for outdoor crews One-time setup
DTF print Small crews, full-color logos, performance fabric, printed names None
Screen printing Runs of 100+ of one tee design with a bold back print (bulk quote) Quoted with your 100+ piece order
Embroidery Polos, caps and jackets for owners, estimators and crew leads $35 per design

Hi-Vis Options for Roadside and Commercial Work

Crews that mow medians, work along road edges or service commercial sites near traffic often need high-visibility apparel. Our hi-vis shirts collection covers the options in detail. Two rules apply when you add a logo: keep it modest so it doesn't cover reflective striping or too much of the fluorescent background, and confirm the safety class your client or job site requires. Whether a garment meets a safety standard comes from its maker, so check the product details first. Hi-vis orders go through a bulk quote for 100+ pieces, or contact us for a smaller crew.

Caps, Visors and Cool-Weather Layers

A cap keeps sun off the face and puts the logo at eye level. Mesh trucker hats are the crew favorite for good reason: the mesh back vents heat, and the structured front panel gives the logo a solid base. Visors and bucket hats are embroidered only, caps can be embroidered or DTF printed, and 3D puff embroidery makes a short company name stand off the front. A bucket hat adds shade for the ears and neck in midsummer.

For fall cleanups and winter work, add hoodies, quarter-zips and jackets in the same color family as the summer kit. We carry workwear brands such as Carhartt, sold decorated only. Pick the style, Carhartt included, and design hoodies, quarter-zips, jackets and embroidered beanies live in our 3D Custom Designer.

Pressure Washing, Pool and Pest Control Crews

Other outdoor service trades share the same needs, each with a twist.

Pressure washing crews

Pressure washing crews are wet for hours, so quick-dry polyester beats cotton, which turns heavy when soaked. Darker colors hide grime and splash-back. Pressure washing shirts with a logo and a big phone number on the back get noticed while the driveway behind your tech turns from gray to clean.

Pool service techs

Pool techs work in full sun around chlorinated water, which can fade dark cotton over time. Light performance tees and UPF long sleeves keep techs cooler and generally hold their color better than cotton.

Pest control and irrigation techs

Pest control techs go inside homes, so a polo or button-front with the logo on the chest looks more professional than a tee, and a personalized name on the opposite side tells homeowners who's at the door. Irrigation and tree crews sit in between: performance tees in the field and a polo for the crew lead who talks to the client.

Lawn Care Uniforms for a Growing Crew

Lawn care uniforms are rarely a one-time purchase. Crews grow in spring, turn over in summer and wear out shirts every season, so set up an ordering routine.

Sizes, new hires and seasonal reorders

Collect each person's size in a simple sheet before you order, and keep a few spares in your most common sizes for new hires and torn shirts. We carry sizes up to 5XL and beyond, tall sizes and women's cuts, so everyone on the crew wears the same shirt. With no minimum, a single shirt for a mid-season hire is fine.

Setup fees are one-time per design: reorders, and the same design on other products, never pay them again; only a design change needs new setup. A spring reorder of last year's tee costs the garments and decoration, nothing more.

For a large crew run, screen printing usually gives the best value on 100+ pieces, with setup quoted with your order and charged once. A two-color back print needs two screens, a one-time setup that reorders never pay again. DTF has no setup fee at all, which suits small crews and full-color logos. For 100+ pieces, request a bulk quote to get a dedicated account manager, a free mockup with unlimited revisions and our best volume pricing.

Names are simpler than logos. Printed names carry no setup fee, while an embroidered name is $10 per item, with no design fee. Rush orders are available for a fee quoted with your order; tell us your in-hand date and we'll confirm it before you approve. Orlando-area customers can pick up finished orders at our warehouse, or we'll ship anywhere in the US.

Landscaping Shirt Ideas That Win Jobs

Good lawn care shirt ideas are simple and readable from across the street:

  • Your logo on the chest and "Free estimates" with your phone number on the back.
  • A different shirt color for crew leads, so clients know who to ask.
  • A short line about your specialty, such as native plants, irrigation or hardscapes.
  • A small leaf or mower icon on the cap with no text, so the hat works off the clock too.
  • A seasonal crew shirt for spring kickoff, in the same colors with a new back line.
  • Extra branded tees for loyal clients and referral partners, who wear your name around the neighborhood.

Washing Work Shirts So They Last

Sweat, soil and fertilizer dust are hard on fabric. Wash crew shirts inside out, ideally soon after the shift, so sweat doesn't set. Pre-treat grass stains before washing, keep chlorine bleach away from printed and colored shirts, and skip fabric softener on performance fabric, since it coats the fibers and slows wicking. Tumble dry on low or hang dry, because high heat shortens any print's life. Embroidery has no ink to crack, so it stays the most durable choice for polos and caps.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the best shirts for landscaping?

For summer, lightweight moisture-wicking polyester tees and long sleeves with a maker-stated UPF rating keep crews coolest. For cooler months and rough work, a heavier cotton or poly-cotton tee holds up better. Polos suit estimators and owners who meet clients. Pick one or two styles in a single company color, add your logo, and the crew looks matched on every job.

What color shirts work best for a lawn care crew?

Mid-tones such as heather gray, khaki, sage and light blue balance heat and dirt: cooler than dark colors and more forgiving than white. Light colors are coolest but show stains; dark colors hide dirt but hold heat. If you work near traffic, choose the hi-vis apparel your job requires instead of relying on a bright color alone.

Should we put our phone number on the back?

Yes, if you want the shirt to bring in work. Neighbors see your crew's backs more than their fronts, so the company name and a phone number or website across the back act like a yard sign that moves from job to job. Keep it to a few words in a bold font with strong contrast, and put the logo on the left chest.

Will the print or embroidery hold up to sweat and frequent washing?

Yes, with sensible care. Embroidery is the most durable decoration because there's no ink to crack. Screen prints and DTF prints hold up well on work tees washed inside out and dried on low heat. Skip fabric softener on performance shirts and pre-treat grass stains, and the shirts will still look sharp at the end of the season.

Can we mix sizes and colors in one order?

Yes. Mix sizes, garment colors and styles in one order: tees for the crew, polos for the office and caps for everyone. Each item uses one decoration method, and different items can use different methods. A new thread color for an embroidered logo counts as a new design, so many crews pick shirt colors that all work with one thread color.

Is there a minimum for custom landscaping shirts?

No. Order one shirt for a new hire or outfit the whole crew. Setup fees are the same at any quantity: $35 per embroidered logo, nothing for DTF, and screen-print setup quoted with a 100+ piece order, and reorders never pay them again. Crews ordering 100+ pieces get a bulk quote with a dedicated account manager, a free mockup and our best volume pricing.
